American Chevrolet Athlete of the Week: Elijah Diaz, Davis H.S.

Elijah Diaz led Davis High to a 35-14 victory over Beyer last week in a key Western Athletic Conference showdown. In addition to completing 21 of 25 passes for 200 yards and three touchdowns, and rushing for 100 yards and another TD, Diaz played middle linebacker for a Spartans defense that blanketed the Patriots in the second half. The victory kept thee Spartans in contention for a share of the WAC title and the league's No. 1 playoff seed. Davis will travel Friday night to take on Johansen, also 4-1 in the WAC.
